The fifth album of the American pop / rock band Maroon 5, simply titled as 'V', lands as expected at the summit of the Global Album Chart with healthy 275.000 sales. The biggest sales generated the album in the USA with 164.200 copies, Japan with 19.800 copies and United Kingdom with 16.900 copies. Exactly 10 years ago the band had their big breakthrough with 'This Love'. The smash was massive 10 weeks atop the global chart and the biggest hit of 2004. The corresponding album 'Songs About Jane' sold around 11 million copies to date. Three years ago Maroon 5 landed another spectacular single-smash with 'Moves Like Jagger'. The song ranks at no.35 on the ALL TIME CHART and reached, with a little help from Christina Aguilera, massive 10.722.000 points. Japanese boygroup Smap, an acronym for Sports Music Assemble People, shoots right behind Maroon 5 at no.2. 'Mr.S.', their 21st album in only 22 years, found 184.000 buyers in its initial week, according to Oricon. Last week's no.1 album, Ariana Grande's 'My Everything' slides three places at no.4, after a 66% sales erosion to 96.000 copies. Bob Marley's legendary compilation 'Legend' returns at no.11 with 47.000 sales. It's the highest place on the global chart and the biggest weekly sales frame for that album since more than 10 years. It's owed to the Google Play store discounting the title to 99-cents during the tracking week in the USA. Since its release in 1984 'Legend' sold astonishing 33 million copies worldwide. It's the most successful reggae album ever, the second biggest best-of-compilation ever (after Eagles' 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975) and it placed at no.12 on the ALL TIME CHART. Some additional sales stats: 'Racine Carrée' by Stromae sold 15.000 copies last week and reaches a total of 2,48 million so far, 'Prism' by Katy Perry sold also 15.000 units last week, 3,23 million so far, 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' by Eminem sold 10.000 units last week and has a total of 4,21 million units so far, 'Farbenspiel' by Helene Fischer sold 1,4 million copies so far, 'Night Visions' by Imagine Dragons 4,02 million and 'Xscape' by Michael Jackson 1,41 million.
