Zayn debuts on the Global Track at No.1 with his first solo-smash 'Pillowtalk'. "Pillowtalk" was co-written by Zayn and recorded as the lead single of his upcoming debut solo studio album, 'Mind of Mine', due for release on 25 March 2016. "Pillowtalk" has been defined by critics as a multi-genre track, including downtempo electronic and alternative R&B, with a pop-R&B production. An acoustic version of the song was also released.
The song was well received by contemporary critics, with most of them appreciating the singer's new musical direction and vocal performance. The song's music video features kaleidoscopic effects, sexual imagery, and American model Gigi Hadid playing Zayn's lover.
