'Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey’, the 4th Japanese studio album, and 8th overall by K-Pop Kings BTS, released on July 14, debuts at #1 on the Global Album Chart with equivalent sales of 588.000, and is this week’s best-selling album! The album debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and landed at No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Albums Chart in Japan with 447,869 units sold in its 1st 24 hours, setting a new record for the highest first day sales by both a foreign and Korean artist in Japan, and became the highest selling album out of all albums released in the country for 2020 so far, surpassing sales of 500,000 copies on its 2nd day. The album debuted at #1 on the Oricon weekly chart after selling over 564,00 units, breaking the record for highest first week sales of 2020 and becoming the most sold album in Japan of the year! Additionally, BTS set a new all-time record for the best-selling album in its first week of tracking by a male foreign artist, breaking a 10-year record previously held by DBSK's greatest hits album, Best Selection 2010, which sold 413.000 in week 1! In the US ‘Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey ‘ debuted at #115 on the Billboard 200 chart issue released on July 21 for the week of July 25 with only two days of tracking and no physical release, giving the band their 12th entry on the chart and extending their record for the most entries amongst all K-pop acts. It also debuted at #2 on the Billboard World Albums chart. In the UK, the album debuted at #56 on the Official Albums Chart with only two days of tracking and no physical sales included, breaking the record for the highest charting Japanese album by a Korean act ever in the UK! The album also debuted at #7 in New Zealand, #9 in Australia, #51 in Switzerland, #58 in Scotland, #90 in Canada, #137 in Belgium (Wallonia) and #164 in Belgium (Flanders)! ‘BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey’ is the band's 1st full length Japanese album in 2 years since 2018's 'Face Yourself'. The album contains Japanese versions of songs from BTS's 'Love Yourself: Answer' (2018), 'Map of the Soul: Persona' (2019) and 'Map of the Soul: 7' (2020) albums, as well as four new, original Japanese tracks: "Intro: Calling", lead single "Stay Gold", "Your Eyes Tell", and "Outro: The Journey". Taylor Swift was the best-selling recording-artist of 2019 according to the International Federation Of The Phonographoc Industry, IFPI, the organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide. Swift earns the honor for the second time, her first being in 2014. Taylor released her 7th studio album ‘Lover’ on August 23, 2019 via Republic Records. ‘Lover’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 867,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week in the United States. All 18 tracks from ‘Lover’ charted simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking numerous records including the most simultaneous Hot 100 entries among women, the most simultaneous Hot 100 debuts among women, the album by a female artist with most simultaneous Hot 100 entries and the album by a female artist with the most simultaneous Hot 100 debuts! By the end of 2019 ‘Lover' had sold 1.085 million copies in the US alone including 386,000 digital copies and 699,000 physical copies, making it the top-selling Album of 2019 in the US in both physical sales and overall sales!

 

‘Lover’ was also the top-selling studio album globally in 2019, selling over 3.2 million pure copies worldwide and setting the Guinness World Record for the biggest-selling album of the year by a solo artist, after peaking at #1 in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the UK. 'Legends Never Die' is the 3rd studio album by the late American rapper Juice WRLD who passed away on December 8, 2019. The album was released on July 10, 2020, through Grade A Productions and Interscope Records and features guest appearances from Trippie Redd, Marshmello, Polo G, The Kid Laroi, and Halsey. 'Legends Never Die' debuted atop the US Billboard 200 with 497,000 album-equivalent units in its first week including 209,000 pure album sales, becoming the rapper's 2nd number one album.
