'Map of the Soul: 7' debuted atop the US Billboard 200 with 422,000 album-equivalent units, including 347,000 pure album sales. It is BTS's fourth US number-one album, making them the fastest band since the Beatles to have four number one albums in less than two years. It is also the highest opening for an album in 2020 thus far, and the highest first-week figures of BTS's albums in the US to date! The album outsold the next six highest-ranking albums on the Billboard 200 combined. The album's lead single, "On" debuted at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 86,000 downloads and 18.3 million U.S. streams, marking BTS's biggest sales week for a song. The song is the group's highest charting single on the chart and their first top 5, following "Boy With Luv" featuring Halsey which peaked at number 8 and "Fake Love" which peaked at No. 10, making BTS the first Korean artist to have most Top Ten hits on the Hot 100!
In South Korea, the album debuted atop the Gaon Album Chart, giving BTS their thirteenth number one album and selling over 2.13 million copies in its first day and a record-breaking 3.37 million copies in its first week, achieving highest first week sales in Hanteo Chart history and breaking their previous record of 2 million copies of Map of the soul: Persona. The album outsold the next nineteen best-selling albums of 2020 combined, making it the 2nd best-selling album in the history of South Korea.
In Japan, the album became the groups fifth number one, selling over 370,000 copies in its release week.
In the United Kingdom, the album debuted atop the Official Albums Chart, their second consecutive number one after selling around 36,000 units, with 32,000 pure sales.
The album debuted atop the German albums chart, making BTS the first Asian group to top the chart.
The Album also It debuted at #1 on the Irish Albums Chart, making BTS the 1st Korean artist to score a number one in that country. The album debuted at number one on Australia's ARIA Albums Chart becoming BTS' fifth top ten entry, and their 2nd consecutive number one following Map of the Soul: Persona. In France, the album debuted at number one on the SNEP Albums Chart, after selling 23,502 equivalent units, the group's first number one in that country.
The Album also went to #1 in Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, New Zealand, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania and Scotland.
The Weeknd’s "Blinding LIghts" is #1 on the Global Track Chart for a 2nd consecutive week. It's The Weeknd's third global number one following "Can't Feel My Face" which topped the chart for 3 weeks in August/September 2015 and "Starboy" which held atop the global chart for 4 weeks in December 2016. "Blinding Lights" is the 2nd single off the Weeknd's upcoming studio album 'After Hours' which will be released on March 20. Justin Bieber’s 'Changes' tops the Global Album chart with equivalent sales of 365.000 of which 231,000 were sold in the United States and 40,000 in Canada according to Nielsen Music / Billboard. 18,000 were shifted in the UK as per the Official charts and around 10,000 in Germany according to GfK, 8,000 in Japan as per Oricon, 6,000 in France as per SNEP and 4,000 in Australia according to ARIA. 'Changes' follows Bieber's 2015 release 'Purpose' which debuted with 863,000 sales in the week 48, 2015, and has sold 6,7 million units so far!
